ABPI response to appointment of new Patient Safety Commissioner

The Government has today announced the appointment of Dr Henrietta Hughes OBE as the first ever Patient Safety Commissioner for England.  

In response, Dr Amit Aggarwal, Medical Director at the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry said: 

“Companies are committed to the highest standards of safety and efficacy in medicines and the voice of the patient should always drive improvement.

“The introduction of a Patient Safety Commissioner was an important recommendation made by Baroness Cumberlege in her First Do No Harm report. We look forward to working with Dr Hughes in her new role.”
