The charity focuses on finding a cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), a rare and progressive muscle-wasting disease. Katie has a son living with DMD. Prior to joining the team at Duchenne UK, she had been advising the charity’s co-founders Alex Johnson and Emily Reuben, on a campaign to secure early access to a new treatment for patients living with DMD. She leads on all policy and advocacy matters for Duchenne UK and assists in the planning and delivery of their campaigns and projects, including the DMD Hub, Project HERCULES and DMD Care UK.
Katie has a background working as a communications director for a trade association and as a communications and political consultant supporting clients from across the health and social care, pharmaceutical, education and transport sectors to influence policy and delivering integrated public affairs and PR campaigns on a range of issues.
