ABPI response to UK COVID-19 vaccines delivery plan

Tens of millions of people will be immunised by the spring at over 2,700 vaccination sites across the UK, according to the government's vaccines delivery plan.

That scientists have delivered vaccines against COVID-19 in under a year is a massive achievement. Vaccinating mass populations against the coronavirus in the UK and around the world is also a significant challenge and we need to remain focussed. Richard Torbett

The UK COVID-19 vaccines delivery plan sets out how the government will work with the NHS, devolved administrations, local councils and the armed forces to deliver at least 2 million vaccinations per week.

In response, Richard Torbett, Chief Executive of the ABPI, said:

"The ABPI welcomes the Government’s COVID-19 vaccine delivery plan and the ambition to vaccinate the most vulnerable people in the UK over the next five weeks.

"That scientists have delivered vaccines against COVID-19 in under a year is a massive achievement. Vaccinating mass populations against the coronavirus in the UK and around the world is also a significant challenge and we need to remain focussed. Companies are working around the clock - and in partnership with others - to deliver these vaccines on schedule and ultimately end this pandemic as quickly as possible."
