William Harbage QC to step down as Chair of the PMCPA Appeal Board

The ABPI Board today announces that William Harbage QC will be relinquishing his position as Chair of the PMCPA Appeal Board to focus on his private practice as a leading Silk specialising in criminal and regulatory law.

The end of this year will see Mr Harbage complete an unprecedented third term as Chair of the Appeal Board and marks 15 years of sterling service to the self-regulation of the pharmaceutical industry in the UK.

The ABPI Board intends to move forward with plans to appoint a successor.

ABPI President and Chair of the ABPI Board, Haseeb Ahmad, said:

“The ABPI Board would like to thank William for his tremendous contribution and service to regulation of our industry in the UK. The ABPI Board will now begin the process of appointing a new Chair and will ensure there is a smooth transition and handover between Mr Harbage and the new Chair.”

William Harbage said:

"It has been an honour to have served as Chairman of the PMCPA Appeal Board and to have played a part in the regulation of one of the UK's most important industries. I thank and pay tribute firstly to all those who have been members of the Appeal Board during my time in office and secondly to all at the PMCPA, in particular the indefatigable Director, Heather Simmonds."
