Pharmacy Awards Enter Third Year

Monday, April 2, 2007

An award scheme for pharmacists who have made innovative improvements to the handling of medicines is now entering its third year – and entries are being sought from pharmacists in England, Scotland and Wales.

The awards, which are sponsored by the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI), will be given to up to six pharmacists who have shown:

  • Innovative practice that has improved the use of medicines.
  • Significant improvements in the quality of prescribing, dispensing or administration of medicines.
  • Service developments that ensure patient access to high quality care and medicines.

“Pharmacists are in the front line of providing healthcare advice, and the ABPI is delighted to promote awards to those who have made a positive difference to patients through more effective use of medicines,” said Martin Anderson, ABPI Director of NHS Policy & Partnerships.

Winners of the award will receive a full delegate ticket for the 2007 British Pharmaceutical Conference, which is being held in Manchester from September 10-12. Presentation of the prize will take place at the conference.

Entries will be judged by a panel of senior NHS professionals and the ABPI. Applications, which must be submitted by June 30, can be obtained online or from Martin Anderson, ABPI, 12 Whitehall, London, SW1A 2DY.
