benefits to patients are the winners of inaugural awards sponsored
by the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI),
it has been announced.
A total of five women and one man - two each from England, Scotland
and Wales - have received the awards that went to pharmacists who
have shown:
- Innovative practice that has improved the use of medicines.
- Significant improvements in the quality of prescribing, dispensing
or administering medicines.
- Service developments that ensure patient access to high-quality
care and medicines.
The standard of entries in the first year of this new award was
high, and the judges were impressive by the quality of the winners'
achievements," said Martin Anderson, Commercial Affairs Director
at the ABPI.
"The UK-based pharmaceutical industry has long recognised how
the professional abilities of pharmacists can make a very real difference
to patients through their expert knowledge of medicines, and these
awards have been designed to reflect that."
