The often complex processes and objectives behind the UK Pharmaceutical
Price Regulation Scheme (PPRS) are explained in a new publication
from the Association of British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI).
The PPRS voluntary system of price regulation has been in existence
since 1957 and is renegotiated every five to six years - enabling
easier planning of health services and stability for industry. Understanding
the 2005 PPRS provides at-a-glance statistics and background to
the latest agreement, the mechanics behind how it works and prospects
for the future.
Understanding the 2005 PPRS is a useful introduction to the workings
of the scheme including all the key figures about the pharmaceutical
market in the UK. Copies are available from ABPI Publications priced
at £10; email publications@abpi.org.uk
or phone 020 7747 1446.
