Medicines Information Patient Voices

Wednesday, September 19, 2007

All too often, patients in the UK do not know enough about their medicines, have difficulty finding more information and are confused by the complexity of the material they do find. In conjunction with other partners - in particular, the Ask About Medicines (AAM) initiative - the ABPI and the UK-based pharmaceutical industry have been working on a variety of schemes to address this issue. In particular, a report published jointly by the ABPI, Diabetes UK and AAM showed that the majority of the 2m people diagnosed with diabetes in the UK are unaware of the dangers of not managing their condition properly. A report found that there are significant missing pieces of information for patients about their diabetes. This video gives one patient's point of view of the delivery of medicines information in the UK. It is a fascinating insight into the issue.

Please note it may take a few seconds for the video to begin playing.
