Following the success of last year’s roadshows, the ABPI NHS Partnership team is running a new series of regional events in 2014.
The first two will occur on Monday 7 July for the London region, and Thursday 10 July for the Midlands and East regions. Details about the North and South roadshows will be available soon.
The London roadshow will showcase examples of joint initiatives that have been supported by the ABPI Regional Industry Groups (RIGs). It will demonstrate how local projects can be successfully implemented and how they can support wider national policy goals. Speakers at this event will include: Stephen Whitehead, ABPI; Jane Moore, NICE; Clare Howard, NHS England; Adrian Bull, Imperial College Partners Academic Health Science Network (AHSN); Chris Streather, Health Innovation Network AHSN and Mairead Lyons, UCL Partners AHSN.
The Midlands and East roadshows will focus on improving health outcomes through medicines optimisation and transforming patient outcomes. With the rapid changes occurring in the NHS, it is critical to understand and interpret the national NHS priorities and how these can be translated down to regional and local level.
Dr Robert Winter OBE, Managing Director of the Eastern Academic Health Science Network (AHSN), will explore the role of AHSNs in providing leadership to tackle local variation in NICE appraised technology and address the challenge of access and uptake of innovative medicines. Other speakers will include Satyan Kotecha, Local Professional Network; Jasmeen Islam, West Leicester CCG and Mike Farrar, independent management consultant and former CEO of the NHS Confederation.
Both events will enable the NHS and industry to engage and explore further opportunities for closer collaboration, in order to improve both the experiences and outcomes for patients. It is also a chance for attendees to understand the changing relationship between industry and the NHS through local implementation of joint working programmes, which secure a future for the use of innovative medicines in the NHS.
