Joint ABPI/ALLIANCE seminar on chronic back pain

The ABPI is holding a series of joint seminars with Health and Social Care ALLIANCE Scotland (the ALLIANCE) on areas of mutual interest. The next one will be held at the ABPI Scotland offices on Wednesday 16 January from 10.15am – 2pm and will include a networking lunch.

The purpose of the joint seminars is threefold:

  • information sharing; exploring respective policy positions, including the perspective of people with long-term conditions and the organisations that represent them to ensure shared understanding of the issues
  • to identify if any of our actions or engagement can be shared
  • further developing working relationships and networking.

This seminar will focus on chronic pain. This topic was suggested by delegates who attended the first seminar in September. Topics and confirmed speakers for 16 January are:

  • Top tips for engaging with the Scottish Parliament, Paul Anderson, Community Outreach Manager
  • Work of the Chronic Pain Cross Party Group, Jackie Baillie MSP
  • Work of ABPI Scotland Pain Industry Group, Bill Paton, Chair
  • How Pain Association Scotland represents the view of people living with Chronic Pain in Scotland, Phil Sizer, Training Manager
  • Work of the Chronic Pain Steering Group, Norma Turvill, Chronic Pain Facilitator.
