​The theme for the conference was ‘Innovation in healthcare’ – from developing new molecules, through to collaborative research and joint working practices, innovation is key to the future of the UK’s healthcare economy and patient wellbeing.

Delegates heard from ABPI Chief Executive Stephen Whitehead (pictured) as he discussed the price, value and need to embrace innovation and NHS Confederation CEO Mike Farrar who focused on the meaning of innovation.

Speakers from industry, patient groups, academia and research contributed from across the healthcare sector.

President Simon Jose closed the day with a challenge to ABPI members to strengthen their relationships with the NHS and get ready for the huge impact partnership working will have on the future of medical innovation and healthcare.
