On Thursday 27 April 2017, the ABPI Annual Conference brought together experts from the pharmaceutical industry, Government, the NHS, NICE, academia, the science community and the manufacturing sector to debate the future of UK Life Sciences.
The discussion on the day focused on how we can best use the opportunity laid out in the Industrial Strategy to shape the changing landscape as we leave the European Union, to benefit UK patients and create a virtuous circle that works for Government, the NHS and our companies.
Replay key talks from the conference from MMIP's Ian McCubbin on 'Advanced Therapies and the complexities of modern medicines manufacturing', Cancer Research UK's Emlyn Samuel on 'Making a Life Sciences Strategy work for the patient' and NHS Digital's Professor Daniel Ray on 'Winning the race for usable data'.
Also catch-up with key industry and UK healthcare figures as they share their views on the Life Sciences sector, it's importance to the UK and their hopes for the future.
The UK General Election on 8 June 2017 presents a real opportunity for the new Government to set out a clear strategy to secure and grow the UK's status as a global hub for the pharmaceutical industry and improve patients' access to the medicines they need.
With each political party putting together their own manifesto, on 27 April we published 'Securing the Opportunity for UK Life Sciences by 2022', setting out the pharmaceutical industry's policy priorities for the next parliament.
