The Concordat states the NIC would “harness the skills, experience, and dedication of organisations from across the health care system to support faster and more consistent access to NICE recommended medicines, treatments and technologies” .
The NIC runs exemplar projects understanding barriers and identifying solutions to overcome persistent problems that prevent change and implementation of NICE guidance. The NIC’s work on NOACs and publication of the Consensus Statement alongside the NICE AF clinical guideline in June 2014 was well received and generated significant interest.
Following an open call for new project proposals in 2014, the NIC is currently working on 4 projects
Each project has a NIC Board project sponsor and ABPI is the Board sponsor for the NIC NSTEACs project. The project commenced earlier this year and a project summary setting out the background to the NIC, the project objectives and plan was published:
The printed version of this summary was sent by AZ to GPs and commissioners in the December issue of Guidelines in Practice on Monday 14 December 2015.
