The boards of the ABPI and Datapharm are pleased to announce the next stage in the evolution of the long-standing relationship between their two organisations.
Datapharm was established in 1977 with the support of the ABPI, and tasked with the distribution of medicines information on behalf of pharmaceutical companies to health professionals and the public.
The ABPI has maintained a close working relationship with Datapharm, including representation on the board, throughout this time. Datapharm has since grown into a membership organisation serving the interests of 200+ pharmaceutical companies. The company has expanded its activities in online publishing to support the NHS, NICE and other healthcare organisations, and now also provides a number of solutions to a wide range of pharmaceutical company business challenges.
The Datapharm board is being restructured as a consequence, with ABPI formal representation on the Datapharm board now ceasing after more than 35 years of productive engagement. Further announcements regarding new appointments to the Datapharm board will be made shortly.
The boards of the ABPI and Datapharm, in recognition of their long-standing close association over many years and in recognition of the evolution of Datapharm’s role into that of an independent service provider, are pleased to announce that Datapharm has been accepted as an affiliate member of the ABPI.
The ABPI will work with Datapharm and other relevant affiliate members whenever there is an appropriate common objective which works to the benefit of the wider pharmaceutical industry and their stakeholders, the NHS and patients.
