"The Summit was an opportunity for everyone involved in cancer care to try and address the challenges that NHS patients have in getting cancer medicines.
"As the report says, the way that some medicines are appraised and valued in the UK needs urgent reform as it is outdated and unable to accurately assess modern cancer medicines. Any system needs to take into account patient views and experiences so that it can genuinely help determine the full value of a medicine.
"The industry is aware of the budgetary constraints facing the NHS and companies are playing a part in helping to meet budgets. The ABPI will continue to work with charities, the NHS and government to improve access to the most effective cancer medicines in a way which is affordable to the NHS."
