Awareness of the ABPI Code of Practice for the Pharmaceutical Industry amongst health professionals has increased during the last five years as a result of Code awareness activities first launched in 2006.
To build on the success of previous activities to support the Code and reinforce the role of health professionals in maintaining high standards, the PMCPA is running Code Awareness Week 2011 from 4–8 April.
To help engage health professionals in learning about the Code and self regulation by the pharmaceutical industry, the PMCPA will be launching an e-learning module which is certified as conforming to continuing professional development (CPD) guidelines. This will be one of the free resources available from the PMCPA website to help companies run their own Code awareness activities.
Companies are supporting Code Awareness Week 2011 in various ways including promoting the Code and the e-learning module to health professionals and NHS management.
Three meetings are being held during Code Awareness week to promote the changes to the Code and the e-learning module as well as an update on ABPI activities.
Monday 4 April in London
Thursday 7 April in Cardiff
Friday 8 April in Edinburgh
A meeting is being arranged in Northern Ireland.
An article about the Code and the e-learning module is to be published in The Pharmaceutical Journal on 9 April.
