Alison is the ABPI's Acting CEO and Executive Director – Commercial UK and is responsible for all the Association’s work on commercial issues in England, Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland. This includes pricing, the Pharmaceutical Price Regulation Scheme (PPRS), HTA and value assessment, market access, working with the NHS on all aspects of medicines use, procurement and distribution & supply.
Alison and her team work with industry, the Government and devolved administrations, NICE, Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC), All Wales Medicines Strategy Group(AWMSG), the NHS and other stakeholders to ensure that medicines’ true value is understood and assessed appropriately and that patients and the NHS can access the medicines they need when they need them.
Alison joined the ABPI in May 2009 from Quintiles - Innovex, where she held a series of top management roles, including European Managing Director of Innovex Medical Communications, Head of Innovex Global Operations, Managing Director of Innovex UK and Operations Director for the Clinical Research and Health Management division. Prior to this she had a variety of roles in sales, marketing, medical, clinical research and human resources during 15 years at GlaxoSmithKline.
A pharmacist by training, she graduated from Nottingham University, began her career in hospital pharmacy and worked in community pharmacy prior to joining the industry.
