Aileen advises the Board of Management and Senior Leadership Team on all communications and engagement opportunities which help stakeholders understand how and why our industry brings medicines to life.
The role is pivotal in highlighting the value the pharmaceutical industry brings to the UK, and ensures that industry continues to work with all stakeholders to ensure patients across the UK have access to the medicines they need. She and her team are responsible for leading the organisation’s engagement with government, media, patient groups and the wider healthcare community.
Aileen began her career working for a range of PR agencies including Burson-Marsteller and Weber Shandwick where her clients included leading pharmaceutical and health organisations. Aileen’s career progressed quickly and before long she was working in senior executive roles, such as Corporate Communications at Kellogg’s Europe, Director of Consumer, Brand and Enterprise Media Relations at Vodafone Group, and Corporate Communications Director at Vodafone UK. Prior to accepting her role with the ABPI, Aileen worked for Innovate UK as interim Director of Communications.
Aileen has been a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations since 1985, is a freeman of the Guild of Public Relations Practitioners and recently became a member of the Institute of Directors in early 2013. Aileen is also a trustee of AbilityNet, which changes the lives of disabled people by helping them use digital technology at work, at home or in education.
