Dr Louise Leong is Director of R&D Policy. Louise has responsibility in areas critical to the development of medicines for unmet medical need, for example, evolving R&D paradigms, open innovation, translational medicine, stratified /personalised medicine, and valuing innovation and works with external stakeholders to drive success. Louise also serves on a number of national committees and boards.
Before joining the ABPI, Louise was Science Director of Stem Cells for Safer Medicines, and her experience in other sectors include at the Wellcome Trust, managing the funding of biomedical science and science policy; and in Academe holding fellowship, research and teaching appointments in Cambridge.
Louise is active in the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations. She is a Fellow of the Society for Biology, and obtained a PhD in immunology from Cambridge University, and a postgraduate degree in business management from University of London.
