ABPI Northern Ireland was established in 2007 recognising the changing political context and devolved health agenda in Northern Ireland. It supports the work of the ABPI Northern Ireland Industry Group, a collaboration of ABPI members with a declared interest in Northern Ireland.

Under the ABPI Northern Ireland banner, more than 25 ABPI member companies meet on a regular basis with active work programmes in the areas of Value and Engagement. ABPI Northern Ireland also supports the activities of four therapeutic subgroups – Oncology, Cardio-Vascular Disease, Pain and Respiratory.

ABPI Northern Ireland and its member companies work in partnership with the Northern Ireland Assembly, Health and Social Care (HSC), Patient Advocacy Groups and other key stakeholders, to help address the health needs of the people of Northern Ireland. This includes formal meetings with officials from the Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety (DHSSPS) and membership of the Health and Social Care Board Medicines Management Forum.

We share a common commitment to improve the lives of the people of Northern Ireland. We work alongside healthcare professionals and patients under the strict governance arrangements of the ABPI Code of Practice and assisted with the development of the DHSSPS’s Best Practice Guidance on Joint Working between the HSC and the Pharmaceutical Industry and other relevant commercial organisations. These ensure that medicines promotion and joint working with the HSC are conducted in an open, responsible and ethical way.

ABPI Northern Ireland is committed to working with our partners to support a common understanding and a shared value for new and innovative medicines.
