Membership of the ABPI is open to companies in the UK producing prescription medicines, other organisations involved in pharmaceutical research and development, and those with an interest in the pharmaceutical industry operating in the UK.
Membership categories
We have three categories of membership:
Full Member
Full membership is open to organisations that:
Supply prescription medicines for human use
Conduct business in the UK
Manufacture medicines for human use or hold marketing authorisations for such products
Also eligible are organisations which are engaged in research and/or development on their own account in the UK with a view to the marketing or licensing to third parties of any resulting medicines for human use or pharmaceutical materials for their preparation.
Research Affiliate
Research affiliates are companies which carry out their business in the UK and are engaged in the research in and/or development of medicines for human use, but which have no sales of such products in the UK. Many of these are Contract Research or Contract Development Organisations.
General Affiliate
General Affiliate membership is open to all other organisations with an interest in the industry and who operate in the UK. Most are suppliers of products and services to the industry, including law firms, management consultants and recruitment agents.
